i just love her!

The moment I saw this Zoe Karssen "Creme De La Creme" Sweatshirt on the Atlantic-Pacific blog (one of my absolute faves btw!) - I knew a DIY was in the works.  While I would LOVE to have the original, not only is the sweatshirt already sold out almost everywhere, it also costs a pretty penny.  At $160, I knew this sweatshirt would never make it into my closet so the budget friendly me wanted to recreate it on my own with a Sunny Side of Gray twist.  So with a little bit of illustrator and iron on love, a $7 sweatshirt from F21, and lots of patience cutting out each letter - so becomes this cute SSOG DIY!

the sunny side of gray way!

Here are the basic steps

  1. Create your own lettering on a program like Adobe Illustrator like me (or Microsoft Word would work fine too).  You can also follow this great blogger's idea of using iron on letters from Michael's or any craft store - it'll probably take less time that way too since you won't have to cut out the letters individually.  Since I had an exact font in mind, I had to go the long route.
  2. Cut out each letter as precisely as you can (you can use an exacto knife here too!)
  3. Place each letter centered in the middle of the sweatshirt like so....and get to ironing!
  4. And volia!  Your very own custom graphic sweatshirt :)

This sweatshirt is perfect when paired with a cute and fun skirt like pictured (get mine here) or some distressed boyfriend jeans (one of my dream pairs is here OR for an awesome tutorial to DIY your own boyfriend jeans, check out my good friend and super DIYer SwellMayde here).
